WanderLens Lab specializes in the application of interactive media for historic preservation. Our work includes digital heritage interpretation, visualization of heritage knowledge, and the creation of customized heritage experiences tailored to specific users. Collaborating with museums, universities, scholars, and artists, we undertake diverse projects—from workshops discussing Chinatown preservation to integrating Indigenous cultural concepts with art therapy. Our mission is to use new media technology to creatively address heritage issues and amplify diverse cultural narratives through artistic expression in the digital realm.

Zihao Zhang
Co-founder & Digital Heritage Interpreration Specialist
Zihao is the co-founder of WanderLens Lab. At WanderLens Lab, his team is developing an experiential tech platform where people can explore local creators' spatial narratives, captured through Gaussian Splatting and enhanced by AI chatbots. He graduated from Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where he focused on digital twin and XR applications for architectural heritage and cultural tourism.

Daoxin Chen
Co-founder & Heritage Storytelling Specialist
Daoxin Chen is a heritage storytelling specialist with an interdisciplinary background in literature, digital cultural heritage, architectural history, and education. Her work focuses on communicating both tangible and intangible cultural heritage through innovative storytelling methods that utilize a variety of media and digital technologies. Inspired by critical heritage studies and multilayered narratives, she explores new ways to present the richness of heritage. Her practice includes creating heritage content for immersive experiences and artistic installations that not only communicate heritage knowledge to the public but also highlight the intersection of preservation with memory, place, emotional engagement, and cultural meaning.
